Motorola’s first quadruple-camera smartphone was originally thought to be the One Pro, but new information courtesy of WinFuture suggests it’ll actually be called the One Zoom. Motorola has given it this name because of the rear camera setup, which has coincidentally just been detailed.

Accompanying the main snapper should be a super-wide-angle camera. Details about the sensor remain scarce at the minute but the lens itself should be identical to the one found on the upcoming Motorola One Action. Therefore, the camera will likely support a 117º field of view and be marketed as an ‘Action Cam.’

Giving the Motorola One Zoom it’s rather unique name will be the third camera. This should support optical image stabilization too and will apparently allow for a 5x hybrid zoom system. The latter will be possible by combining either 2x or 3x optical zoom with extra data captured by the remaining cameras. Completing the setup will probably be a dedicated 5-megapixel depth sensor that’ll help improve portrait photography. Either a 25-megapixel or 13-megapixel selfie camera seems likely too.

You’re in luck if you don’t like Motorola’s 21:9 displays

Unlike the Motorola One Vision and One Action, the One Pro doesn’t feature a 21:9 display. Instead, it settles for a 6.2-inch notched alternative that likely offers a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Reports suggest there’s also an in-display fingerprint scanner, therefore suggesting its an AMOLED panel. The resolution is yet to be confirmed but FHD+ (2340 x 1080p) seems very possible.

In regards to the internal setup, very little is known at the moment. But considering both the One Vision and One Action feature Samsung’s Exynos 9609, something more powerful is to be expected inside the One Zoom. One likely candidate is the Snapdragon 675 which is already found inside Motorola’s Moto Mod-compatible Moto Z4. When it comes to internal storage, a minimum of 4GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable internal storage is to be expected, although variants with higher storage and RAM counts could be made available too.

Like all other Motorola One-branded smartphones, the One Zoom will launch as an Android One smartphone. This means consumers can expect stock Android 9 Pie straight out of the box and a speedy update to Android 10 Q, which will be released later this month by Google. Other features include a 3.5mm headphone jack and USB-C port along the bottom, volume rocker and power key on the right side, and a speaker on top.

Motorola One Zoom announcement, release date, and price

The Motorola One Zoom will probably be announced at IFA 2019 alongside the One Action and a budget Motorola One-branded model. According to WinFuture, the smartphone will retail at €429 in most European markets. For reference, the Motorola One Action should cost €299 and the Moto G7 costs €249. An exact release date is yet to be revealed but the launch will likely take place later on in the month.

It’s unclear at this stage if Motorola has plans to release the One Zoom in the United States. But if it does so, the smartphone will likely retail at somewhere between $429 and $479.
